Household Lace Adds Charm to Your Place
White River Valley Museum

An exhibit of historic bed, bath, table and kitchen lace. Although lace has a place in fashion history, it also has been used for centuries throughout the world as trim on household linens, to decorate furniture, and to adorn church altars. Like quilting, lace-making has its roots in women's history. Once considered a secret trade of nuns, lace-making eveolved in women's history when it became a way for maidens to make an acceptable living. Maple Valley Creative Arts Center

Maple Valley artist Karen Jimenez celebrates life's key moments by capturing family milestones through several watercolor techniques. Her work has been exhibited in Washington D.C. and Seattle, and has been published in 'Print,' a design work magazine. Auburn painter Tis Husberth has worked in watercolor and mixed media for several years. She holds art degrees from Cornell and Penn State, and her work is in permanent collections and publications. Henry Maros was the winner of the 2010 Normandy Park Arts Festival's 1st Prize for Sculpture. Maros has lived in Normandy Park since 1952 and enjoys making sculptured art as a hobby. He also restores antique firearms, though he is not a hunter. The exhibit can be viewed during business hours at City Hall, which is located at 801 SW 174th Street in Normandy Park.
